The new CMS proposed rules for physician fee schedule run the gamut from requiring more practices to share patient control data to changing the “topped out” quality control measures as a way to comply with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. By 2016, patient experience data would also have to be shared by practices big enough to meet the requirement per the proposed rule change. In the rule change, as well, is the proposal that practices that do not participate in reporting would see their payments go down. The comment period on the proposed changes ends September 2.
